How to Dress for Fall Family Photoshoot – Cleveland Family Photographer

Fall in Cleveland is always hit or miss. Last weekend I had a few family photography photo sessions and the weather could not be better for mid November in Ohio. This past weekend it was freezing cold and the wet snow was a cherry on top. I mean, pretty snowflakes could make great family Christmas portraits, but who wants their hair pictured all wet.

So have you ever wondered what to wear for fall family photography? Keep on reading.

When it comes to colors, I am a big fan of beige and gray. That is true that burgundy is the definition of beautiful fall foliage, but you can just never go wrong with those two.

I love the choice these parents made. The baby was kept warm and snugly, and you can feel the coziness by looking at these pictures. The yellow leaves echo the tan tones and the gray of the parents’ clothes finish the picture nicely, without distracting.

On the other hand, pumpkins, leaves and fall photography sessions are all about one thing -CHRISTMAS! So you would not be in the wrong to add some red flannel. There are two things to keep track of though. First, make sure to pick location carefully: you don’t want any other contrasting colors in the background. And second, make sure the other family members are dressed to compliment the red. And here we go: nice Christmas-y accents.

Gray and navy, are another two safe choices you cannot go wrong with. On a cloudy day gray will make a good monochrome family pictures aesthetic, and navy goes well with the theme of temperatures getting cooler. 🙂

Still, let us not forget the maroon. Just make sure the other colors are complimenting and not distracting. But otherwise, you get the ultimate fall look.

What is you favorite picture-perfect fall look?
